Frequently Asked Questions
Q. My Insurance company says that I must take my car to a dealer repairer to keep within warranty, but I prefer to bring it to the Bodyshop. Will my warranty be invalidated?
A. No, your warranty will be secure. We are approved by the BSI Kitemark PAS 125 to work on any make and model. We are also directly approved repairers for Ford, Nissan, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Proton so every make and model of car is guaranteed for warranty. Remember too that it is the customers choice where their vehicle is repaired.
Q. Can I choose the time that my car is collected and returned?
A. We do our very best to accommodate customer preferences and schedules, although this cannot be guaranteed.
Q. Is the repair work guaranteed?
A. Yes, we guarantee our paint repair for life and the new parts will have a 12 month warranty. We will always try to remedy any problem you have with our workmanship at any time.
Q. Will the Insurance company pay for all the damage to my car?
A. Your insurer will only pay us to repair work which they deem to have been caused by the accident - the subject of the claim. If you disagree with the extent of the repair it will be essential for you to get in touch with your insurer to appeal their opinion.
Q. Can you repair some other damage on my vehicle at the same time?
A. Yes, it makes complete sense to have any additional work done at the same time, because we can do additional work at a fraction of the cost to you.
Q. My vehicle has a fault but I am not sure if it has been caused by the accident?
A. If you have any doubt you should advise us of the fault so that it can be investigated. If necessary, we can take it up with the insurance company as we are only authorised to repair work they have agreed.
Q. I need my car repaired quickly, what might cause a delay?
A. We aim to complete each job as quickly as possible, although there are some things that may delay any repair. Sometimes parts are on back order. If this is the case and your vehicle is roadworthy we may delay booking your vehicle in until the part is in stock. There may also be a delay waiting for an Insurance engineer to agree to the extent of the repair, or when more damage becomes evident when the vehicle is stripped. Our priority is to return your car with a repair of the highest quality and safety.
Q Is it possible to MOT my car whilst you have it in for repair?
A. Yes, we can arrange this for you. This can be a very convenient option, allowing you to get essential work done whilst your car is off the road. We can also fit tyres and arrange servicing too.
Q. Will I always get a free courtesy car?
A. There are several situations to consider. If your insurance policy entitles you to a free Courtesy Car we will provide one as you need it. If the accident is not your fault, then the other party's insurer is likely to provide you with a hire vehicle. If they agree to provide you with a hire vehicle they may deliver it to your address, or you can arrange for them to deliver it to our workshop for you collect when you bring the vehicle in for repair.
Even if you are not entitled to a free courtesy car we will always do our best to provide our comprehensively insured customers with one of our courtesy cars at no cost. This offer is subject to availability.
Q. Tell me more about the Courtesy Car?
A. Courtesy cars belong to The Bodyshop/Fix Auto Skegness and carry the brand of our business. There is nothing to pay for the use of the car, it is our courtesy to you. However, we do ask that you take good care of the car and for legal reasons we ask you to sign a hire agreement when you take control of it. In some cases we may ask you to sign to transfer your own insurance onto the courtesy car for the duration of the repair.
Q. What type of cars do you have?
A. Our fleet comprises vehicles such as Ford Fiesta, VW Polo, Skoda Fabia, Nissan Micra. A limited number of Automatic transmissions are available on request.
Q. Fuel?
A. We offer petrol and diesel engines. Please check before you fill.
We take a record of the fuel reading when you take the car and we ask that you return the vehicle with the same fuel content.
Q. Do I need to clean the car when I return it?
A. All our cars are provided to you in a freshly valeted condition. On returning the vehicle we expect normal day to day road dirt but we reserve the right to charge a £50 fee where the car is returned in a condition where excessive deep cleaning is required.
Q. I have an Excess on my Insurance Policy how is this paid?
A. Your insurer requires The Bodyshop / Fix Auto Skegness to collect your policy excess on their behalf. They will have advised us how much you should pay and we will collect this from you when your vehicle is handed over after repair. Payment can be made by Debit/Credit card or by cash. Sorry, we do not accept cheques.
